Days tuned into weeks. Weeks slowly became a month.
No matter how much I tried to convince myself that I had done the right thing. I couldn’t erase the memories of our friendship.
When I becomes someone friend, I do it with my whole heart and maybe that was my greatest weakness.
Eventually, I unblocked him.
When we finally talked again, the first thing he asked me was, “why did you block me?”
I answered honestly, “I was scared of people talking about me.”
He paused before typing, “and now? You are not scared anymore?”
I wanted to tell him the truth. That I was still scared. That something had changed inside me.
Then, we started talking again. Little by little, everything returned to the way it was. The laughter came back. The conversation returned.
The fear slowly began to fade. I convinced myself that maybe everyone had misunderstood him.
Looking back now, I realize—sometime hope can be most dangerous thing an innocent heat hold into.
One day it the middle of our usual conversation, he told me he had a girlfriend. Surprisingly, it didn’t bother me. The truth was, at that point in my life, he was just a friend.
Nothing more, nothing less.
I didn’t feel jealous, disappointed, or heart-broken because there was no romantic feeling involved. I was simply happy that he had trusted me enough to share a part of his life with me.
He told me, he loved her deeply, but the thing had become complicated. There had been serious conflict between her brother and him.
Because of that, the had stopped talking for a while. Even then, they somehow found a way to stay in touch through snapchat. I listened to him. And I also told him about my crush.
Looking back now, I realized how innocent I was. I didn’t know that when someone is already in relationship, constantly growing emotionally close to someone else can create complicate situation.
To me, we were simply two friends sharing our life with each other. I never thought I was doing something wrong. Because my intention were never beyond friendship.
