2 OUR FIRST CONVERSATION

A year passed after our first accidental meeting. I was in 9th garde now.

Life moved on, so did school. One day I joined an Instagram group created by my classmate, almost everyone from my class was there, including him.

My Instagram username was different from my real name, so most of the people couldn’t recognized me.

While almost every girl knew who I was. We were talking and suddenly he asked one of the girls, “who is she?”

I smiled to myself and replied, “it’s me, Ilaf.”

He was telling everyone to stop wasting time because exam was approaching. When he realized it was me, he jokingly replied, “you should go study too. What are you doing here?”

We kept talking to each other in the group chat. I don’t even remember what we talked about anymore. All I remember is how strangely happy I felt.

It was a happiness without a reason, the kind that only innocent heart can experience.

A classmate finally interrupted us. “If you two wants to talk this much, go to DM’s instead of filling the group chat.

We laughed and then we followed each other. The single follow request opened a door neither of us knew we were stepping through.

Our conversation slowly moved to private messages. We talked every day. We exchanged reels, laughed at it, teased each other and somehow became —best friends.

Those days were simple yet beautiful.

Yet somehow—some conversations don’t feel special because of words, they feel special because of the person we are talking too.

Sometimes happiness doesn’t announce itself. It quietly becomes your routine until one day it gone.
